Obv: WILLIAME.DICK.OF.BRAID. , around beaded inner circle, forge incorporating cauldron for evaporating salt, dividing W D .
Rev: VIRTVTI.FORTVNA.COMES. , around beaded inner circle, caduceus and crossed cornucopias.
M. Dickinson 1A. W Uncertain 44 but WILLIAME and W D on obverse not reverse. Dies as Norweb 6368.
Sir William Dick (?1580-1655) aquired the barony of Braid, Co. Edinburgh, 1631; lord provost of Edinburgh 1638-9; knighted 1641; supposed apparently in error, to have been created a baronet of Nova Scotia about 1638, 1642 or 1646 (DNB;GEC 1900-9, ii. 448). "There was likewise a Coin of Sir William Dick of Braid, allowed to be current amongst his Colliers and Salt-Makers" (Leahe's "Historical Account of Eye Money," p. 104.
