The Sun Tavern was destroyed in the 1666 Great Fire of London.The issuer of this token, Thomas Padnoll rebuilt the tavern. This tavern mentioned in Samuel Pepys diary was one of his frequently visited places, often with his friends eating salmon, lobster, sturgeon, anchovies and pickled oysters.
