St. Thomas's, G C (M) 1668 halfpenny
Obv: (cinquefoil)HIS.HALF.PENY.IN.ST. , around cable inner circle, (cinquefoil)C(cinquefoil) over G(cinquefoil)M with (cinquefoil)(cinquefoil) below.
Rev: (rosette)THOMAS.IN.SOVTHWARK , around two linear inner circles with cable in between, "wuzzing" stone dividing 6 8 .
Ex M. Dickinson; ex J. Rose.
Edge hammered round a little.
M Dickinson 387A.
This one of two only known specimens.
A wuzzing stone was used in the weaving trade. There is a surviving example at Heptonstall in West Yorkshire. Research by John Rose.
Though this interpretation has been questioned as, I have been informed that the stone device on the token, is actually one used in the grain milling process.
