Rev: (rosette)WILL.GIVE.FOR.THIS.A.PENY.1670 , aound cable inner circle, Arms; three salmon hauriant, a crecent for a difference, impaling Weaver's Arms.

Extremely Rare.

Referring to the John Salmon pennies of 1667, with the Family Arms on the obverse and Haberdasher's Arms on the reverse: Sir William Dugdale, in his diary, November 3rd 1668, has this minute: "JOHN Salmon, of Chester, maketh brass pence with armes upon them (three salmons) to disclayme him" ie. declare him not entitled to bear arms. Salmon's will was proved in February, 1687.
