Rev: (cinquefoil)SWANZEA.MERCER(rosette)1666: , around cable inner circle, HIS HALFE PENY in three lines with (rosette)(ten point mullet)(rosette) below.
Maximum diameter: 21.5mm. Weight: 1.2 grams.

Mathew Davies, mercer, was an active supporter of Oliver Cromwell. He became the town alderman in 1650 and portreeve in 1651. Deprived of his aldermanic status at the Restoration in 1660, he subsequently served a further term in 1678.
