Obverse: GEORGIVS.III DEI.GRATIA. - George III by the grace of God; young laureate and draped bust of George III right.
Reverse: 63.M.B.F.ET. H.REX.F.D.B. ET.L.D.S.R.I. A.T.ET.E17 - King of Great Britain, France and Ireland, Defender of the Faith, Duke of Brunswick and Lueneburg. Holy Roman Empire, Arch-Treasurer and Prince Elector; cruciform shields around star, plain angles.
Edge: Diagonally milled.
Attractive cabinet tone.

1763 Shillings are known as Northumberland Shillings because Hugh Percy, 2nd Earl (later 1st Duke) of Northumberland is said to have distributed £100 worth of these coins while parading the streets of Dublin after his installation as Lord Lieutenant of Ireland in that year.
